Meaning: to feel hurt, feel offended 
Example : Sara did not do what her mother wanted from her,  so her mother took umbrage.

Meaning: to say that someone or something goes, runs, or behaves like clockwork means that everything happens exactly as expected.

Example: Meals are always served on time. In their home everything runs like clockwork.

Meaning: if you are on the ball, you are alert, and you know what is going around you.

Example: This guy is really on the ball.
